About

Laura Beutler is a poet and creative non-fiction writer who grew up on the Jersey Shore. She has a bachelor’s in English from Loyola College (now University) and an MA in Publications Design from University of Baltimore. She is an active member of the Maryland Writer’s Association.

Formal job experiences include writing, editing, graphic design, branding, selling fine antiques to rich people, and small business accounting. Informal job experiences include several years as a caregiver to her late mother, who died of breast cancer, and her late husband, who died of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, aka Lou Gehrig’s Disease). You can read about the ALS journey here: https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/chrisbeutler.

Having also lost her father to heart failure at a young age, Laura frequently writes about grief and its impact on her life.

Laura enjoys reading, concerts, theatre and travelling with her two teenage daughters.  They reside in the suburbs of Baltimore with their two dogs, a St. Bernard named Dolly Parton and a beagle named Kenny Rogers.
